Last week I had the opportunity to try a keratin hair treatment for the first time at L\u2019Atelier du 8 Palais de L\u2019Elys\u00e9es. And I must confess I was blown away by the result! So here is my full review!<\/p>\n
First of all, let\u2019s talk about my hair. As you can see from the photo below, my natural hair is curly (read: thick, voluminous, and big curls). And don\u2019t get me wrong, I love my curls, but under the rainy, gloomy Parisian wheater it’s just not manageable, and I always end up with a lot of frizz and volume on my head (picture Diana Ross on stage and you get a close idea). So when L\u2019Atelier du 8 invite me to visit their new salon at Palais de L\u2019Elys\u00e9e and try their signature keratin hair treatment, I couldn\u2019t resist and have to give it a try!<\/p>\n
La semaine derni\u00e8re, j’ai eu l’opportunit\u00e9 d’essayer le fameux lissage \u00e0 la k\u00e9ratine dans le tout nouveau salon de L’Atelier du 8 Palais de L’Elys\u00e9e. Et je dois vous avouer que j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 bluff\u00e9e par le r\u00e9sultat ! J’ai donc d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de partager avec vous mon exp\u00e9rience !\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n So what is keratin treatment and how does it work?<\/p>\n It\u2019s a formula based on keratin protein (mixed with glycolic acid) that helps strengthen hair to prevent breakage, heat damage, and frizz. After the treatment, your hair is smooth, shiny, and easy to style. My appointment was on Tuesday at their new hair salon L’Atelier du 8 Palais de L’Elys\u00e9es. And as you can see from the photo this new place is absolutely beautiful: white walls, gold baroque style mirrors, and stunning chandeliers… It’s the perfect mix of chic minimalist and Parisian boudoir.<\/p>\n Alors qu’est ce que le soin \u00e0 la k\u00e9ratine et comment cela fonctionne ?\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n C’est un soin \u00e0 base de proteine de k\u00e9ratine (avec collag\u00e8ne et acide et fruits) qui aide \u00e0 renforcer le cheveu en le pr\u00e9servant de la casse, des dommages caus\u00e9s par la chaleur des appreils et des frisottis ! Apr\u00e8s le soin, les cheveux sont doux, soyeux, brillants et beaucoup plus faciles \u00e0 coiffer. Mon rendez-vous \u00e9tait donc pris pour le mardi au nouveau salon de L’Atelier du 8, les sp\u00e9cialistes du lissage br\u00e9silien. Et comme vous pouvez voir en photos, le lieu est tout simplement splendide avec ses murs blancs, ses grands miroirs cisel\u00e9s et ses magnifiques chandeliers… Bref un tr\u00e8s beau m\u00e9lange entre minimaliste et le boudoir chic parisien.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n I took place on the black chair and after a little chat about my hair routine, the hairstylist started with the first step of the protocol which is to wash my hair with a specific shampoo (with neutral PH) to get rid of dirt, dust, and any hair product residue. The next step is to blow-dry your hair and apply the keratin treatment all over it and let the formula saturate each strand for about half an hour. The final step and most important one is to seal into the hair with a flat iron since the formula gets activated by the heat.<\/p>\n After that for 2\/3 days you can\u2019t wash your hair, expose them to humidity or tie them in order for your hair to remain straight and smooth. So on Friday, I did my first (sulfate and sodium chloride-free) shampoo and then blow dry my hair\u2026 Under 5 minutes! I was shocked! My hair was so smooth (like silk), shiny, and most importantly absolutely frizz-free!!<\/p>\n So do I recommend it? Absolutely! We are having major rainy days here in Paris, and I don’t have any frizz on my hair! Not a single one! Plus my hair is still smooth and soft. The salon told me that the treatment lasts about 2\/3 months. So I think at the end of October I will try their Botox hair treatment to keep my hair hydrated and most importantly FRIZZ-FREE!<\/p>\n A peine arriv\u00e9e, j’ai pris place dans un des grands fauteuils noirs et apr\u00e8s un \u00e9change avec la coiffeuse sur ma routine capillaire et habitudes de coiffure, on a comenc\u00e9 le protocole dont la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape consiste \u00e0 laver les cheveux avec un shampoing neutre pour enlever toute trace de pollution, poussi\u00e8re et r\u00e9sidus de produit. L’\u00e9tape suivante consiste \u00e0 secher les cheveux et \u00e0 appliquer m\u00e8che par m\u00e8che le soin \u00e0 la k\u00e9ratine sur l’ensemble de la chevelure avant de laisser poser 30 minutes. Arrive alors l’\u00e9tape finale qui est de sceller le soin \u00e0 la chevelure en passant une plaque \u00e0 lisser, la k\u00e9ratine s’activant avec la chaleur.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Ensuite pendant 2\/3 jours vous devez \u00e9viter toute source humidit\u00e9 et de toucher ou attacher vos cheveux pour que ces derniers restent doux et lisses. Ce qui nous emm\u00e8ne donc \u00e0 \u00a0vendreid, \u00a0jour tant attendu de mon premier shampoing (sans sulfate et surtout chloride de sodium)… Et autant vous dire que je suis rest\u00e9e stup\u00e9faite ! Mes cheveux \u00e9taient ultra doux \u00e0 la sortie de la douche et ont s\u00e9ch\u00e9s en moins de dix minutes avec le seche-cheveux (contre 1H avant) mais surtout je n’avais pas un seul frisotti sur la tete !! PAS UN SEUL ! Le salon m’a inform\u00e9 que l’effet du soin \u00e0 la k\u00e9ratine durait envrion 2\/3 mois mais que comme mes cheveux sont tr\u00e8s \u00e9pais et secs de nature, je pouvais compl\u00e9ter le traitement avec le soin botox afin d’apporter encore plus d’hydrataiton \u00e0 mes cheveux ! Donc prochain update fin octobre!
